Set against the backdrop of the 1956 Hungarian Revolution.
Whilst Soviet tanks are destroying Budapest, Karcsi Szabo leads the Hungarian water polo team into the Olympic pool to do battle with the Soviet team for the gold medal. With the eyes of the world fixed on the Melbourne Olympic Games, the Hungarian team are determined to show that while the battle in the streets at home may be lost, the spirit of Hungary will never be defeated.
