Peter Bugh: Ashdown & the Southdowns
1 Jul 2008 - Thu 31 Jul 2008
Away from men and towns, To the wild wood and the downs.
Inspired by the words of Shelley these landscapes capture the spirit of Ashdown Forest and the South Downs. The paintings are in two styles, firstly the traditional transparent watercolours, and then the opaque watercolours (gouache) with their vibrant colours in an almost design sense of the 1930s railway posters. These calming landscapes hope to portray the beauty of East Sussex rural scene to balance the ways of todays hectic lifestyle.
