Full Description

The Paul Dunton Orchestra | Dan Clews | The Orange Circus

8pm – The Paul Dunton Orchestra

Singer-songwriter, Paul Dunton leads his own unique cross-over orchestra providing an atmospheric fusion of alternative and pop with a classical twist.  The Orchestra performs Paul’s own compositions and a varied selection of uniquely arranged standards from a wide range of artists.  The line up of 8 violins, 4 cellos, flute, bass and percussion accompanies Paul on vocals and piano, joined by his lead vocalists, Charlotte Andrew and Poppy Raine.  Paul and his Orchestra regularly perform at concerts, festivals and private events throughout the UK and internationally, including headlining the Theatrium Wilhelmstraße Festival in Wiesbaden, Germany and an 8 state tour of the USA which culminated in a spectacular roof-top performance on top of the New York Strand Hotel.  Increased attention and success led to the orchestra being featured on BBC Radio 2 by Joan Armatrading with interviews and airplay of one of Paul’s songs, ‘Don’t Forget’.  This led to Paul supporting Joan Armatrading on five occasions during her recent UK tours.  Paul's brand new album 'Clearly Invisible' which features the Orchestra throughout the 14 tracks will be available for purchase on the night.

9pm – Dan Clews

Described by the late Sir George Martin as, “Too great a talent to ignore”, country-tinged artist Dan Clews continues his upward trajectory with his new album ‘While Middle England Mows Its Lawn’.  A 4* review in Mojo said, “Veering from lop-sided Ronnie Lane country-tonk to soothing, MOR folk pearls. His best yet.”  Bob Harris describes Dan’s sound as “Landscape Folk”.

Dan’s songs have always found a willing audience.  His publisher is the late Sir George Martin, he has been playlisted by BBC Radio2, played numerous Bob Harris sessions, followed Mumford & Sons on a stage at Glastonbury, and been invited to accompany Tim Minchin as a special guest on Children In Need.  Minchin said, “Beautiful player great songwriter, keep an eye out”.  He is often crossing the Atlantic to work in Nashville with his cutting edge Music Row publisher’s – Downtown Music Publishing.

An artist with a true sense of purpose, his own fresh material and an original voice, Dan Clews represents the very best in natural, instinctive British talent.

9.50pm – The Orange Circus

The Orange Circus Band are a raucous, ‘footstompin’, Americana/Celtic act from the U.K and Virginia in America.  A unique co-operative, they’re a band made of family and friends from Virginia, Wales, Cornwall and England.  Concentrating on original songs and updating traditional music taken from the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia blended with Celtic roots, they continue a historical musical lineage in a contemporary, fresh and exciting way.  Bring your dancing shoes, they put on a brilliantly entertaining show – great playing, beautiful harmonies and boundless energy are guaranteed to raise the roof, warm the heart and encourage the biggest of grins.  They released their first official Album in 2017 ‘We Make our Smiles’ recorded largely at Tilehouse Studios by Luke Oldfield (son of Mike Oldfield, Tubular Bells) and have started to get radio play on BBC Kent, BBC Wales and BBC Cornwall.  The Band have recently returned from a tour of Wales and Cornwall where they did a live session on BBC Introducing.
