About us

Who we are

We are an award-winning, vibrant and inclusive theatre, and arts centre, dedicated to enhancing the lives of our community through the work we do.

Our vision is to provide everyone with life-enriching creative experiences. We are an inclusive charity with an open door to anyone to come on in and engage with the arts.
Our mission is to use the arts to engage, entertain and inspire – and we are really good at it! Above all, we strive for quality in everything we do with a nurturing and joyful spirit. We like to make people smile!

We are situated in a Grade II* listed former church in the centre of Tunbridge Wells, giving us almost 200 years at the heart of our community (with more than 40 of them as a theatre) and we are acknowledged as one of the leading cultural venues in South East England.

Alongside our artistic programme of comedy, music, theatre and independent cinema for all tastes and ages, we also work with young people and older adults through a range of activities both on site and out and about in the local area, and we are open seasonally as a heritage destination via our newly refurbished Clocktower. We also have the Gallery and spaces for private hire and last but by no means least, our Café & Bar provides a safe and welcoming space to relax in six days a week.

Whoever you are, and whatever you like, from comedy, community, creativity to cake (definitely try the cake), please come on in and explore what we have to offer.
We’d love to welcome you here soon.

Our Trustees

Our trustees are volunteers who oversee the governance of the charity. They are appointed for three- year terms and meet regularly throughout the year.

Ross Davies

Chair

As a sponsorship partner, Ross was drawn to Trinity by its need for fresh ideas and a new approach, and the opportunity to help an organisation which has given so much to Tunbridge Wells and will continue to do for years to come.

Ross is a Partner of Knight Frank, the largest privately owned property firm in the world. He is also involved with LandAid, a charity within the property sector working to end youth homelessness in the UK.

Ross grew up in Kent, living in Sevenoaks, Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells. He is married with two children.

David Fitzsimmons

Vice Chair

David Fitzsimmons has lived in the Tunbridge Wells area for nearly 40 years. Although he can’t remember exactly when he first visited Trinity, he has always regarded it as an important part of life in Tunbridge Wells.

Following a career in the energy business, he has been involved in several local organisations and is also a trustee of Skinners’ Academies Trust, responsible for four schools in Tunbridge Wells.

Cllr Martin Brice

Trustee and TWBC Representative

Martin is a trustee because of his love of Trinity Theatre and the concept of community involvement in the arts: it’s not always about the big stars!
Martin is the Tunbridge Wells Borough Councillor for Culverden Ward, within which Trinity Theatre sits. He is also a Commons Conservator.
Martin has lived in the area for 30 years and is a frequent audience member at Trinity.
Now retired, he was a journalist with a 23-year career at the Financial Times.

Anna Dunn

Trustee

Anna first moved to Tunbridge Wells in 2006 to start her training as a solicitor at a local law firm. She had an interest in the arts so joined Trinity Theatre Club, performing on stage at Trinity, where she met her husband. When she moved from Tunbridge Wells to Tonbridge she continued to enjoy being part of the local arts scene and joined the Oast Theatre.

For the past 11 years Anna has been living and working in Brighton, but recently decided to move back to the area to be closer to friends and family. As Trinity is a valuable asset to the local community and part of the fabric of Tunbridge Wells, she is happy to be able to be a part of our present and future as a trustee. Anna has recently joined a local law firm, CooperBurnett, as a Partner in the Residential Property Team.

Amanda Lewis

Trustee

Amanda is delighted to be serving as a trustee with Trinity. She has a long-standing love of the organisation and the benefit it offers to the Tunbridge Wells and surrounding communities.

Amanda is an established Board Director and Managing Director of AKA, the leading advertising agency for the UK arts, entertainment, tourism, leisure and cultural industries, having played a major role in the development of the agency from start-up to now a global private-equity-owned organisation. She is a member of both ALVA and the SOLT marketing group and is active in supporting women returning from maternity leave to the professional workplace.

Having grown up in Tunbridge Wells, Amanda returned to the area 11 years ago and lives locally with her young family.

Ailsa Molyneux

Trustee

Ailsa is currently Festival Director at The Festival Theatre at Hever Castle where her passion for all things performing arts is combined with her love of gardening. Kent born and bred Ailsa has also been the Artistic Director of Tunbridge Wells Puppetry Festival, responsible for bringing Luke Jerram’s Museum of the Moon to Calverley Grounds. In life before children, she worked at Trinity in the Adrian Berry days.

Hugely committed to inclusivity and community, she considers it a privilege to be a member of the Trinity trustees board and hopes she can live up to the position.

Jeremy Parrish

Trustee

Jeremy sits as an independent non-executive director on the board of several financial services companies, following a 40-year career in international banking. He has developed a particular understanding of the Board’s role in providing oversight and compliance of governance. He has lived in Tunbridge Wells and the area for over 30 years. Jeremy chairs the Board Governance Committee.
