High School Musical 2 cast auditions
We’re all in this together… again! After the success of Trinity Youth Theatre’s production of Disney’s High School Musical we are now looking for a cast to perform Gabriella, Troy, Sharpay and the rest of the East High gang for High School Musical 2, to be performed on Friday 21 and Saturday 22 February 2020.
Open to anyone aged 12+ / school year 8+ (as of 1 September 2019). No experience or prior membership of Trinity Youth Theatre necessary.
Full audition pieces will be posted in September and will include a short dance routine, an extract of a song of your choice, an extract of a HSM 2 song, and some script extracts. Auditions will last 90 minutes and be in groups. There will be additional audition dates advertised at a later date.
Rehearsals will be held in local venues on Wednesday evenings and Sunday afternoons, with more rehearsals during the February half term. Rehearsals will begin in late October, with a break for Christmas.
What’s it about?
On the last day of junior year, the East High gang can’t wait to get the summer started – they’re ready for summer jobs, money for college and to have fun. To that end, Troy gets them all jobs at Lava Springs Country Club – which happens to be owned by popular girl, Sharpay’s, father! While Sharpay schemes to steal Troy’s heart from Gabriella, her brother, Ryan, hopes to win the Star Dazzle Award. Everything comes to a head at the talent show, where the group has to remember their motto: “All for one, and one for all.”
All cast members will receive production photos, two complimentary tickets and a snazzy blue HSM 2 jacket to advertise the show.
It costs nothing to audition. If you are successful and accept your part, it will cost £180 to take part, or £130 if you are an existing Youth Theatre member (someone doing Monday nights, Movie Makers, in the Backstage Youth Theatre, or involved in Sweeney Todd, Alice in Wonderland Jr or Peter Pan).
