Show in a Week: Disney's The Jungle Book Kids
Join Our Jungle Book Cast!
Rehearsed and performed in one week:
Monday 25 – Friday 29 July 2022
What is a Show in a Week?
We stage a musical in one week during the Summer Holidays, with children aged 5-11 taking all of the roles! This year, we are performing The Jungle Book Kids, based on the Disney animated classic – we need a Mowgli, Baloo, King Louie and many more!
Over the week, we will learn some of the jazzy beats adapted for younger voices, put together some fabulous dance numbers, and rehearse the rest of the show so we can perform it for an audience at the end of the week on the Trinity stage.
Everyone who signs up gets cast in the show, with low-pressure auditions determining who takes on what role.
All cast members get a show t-shirt, digital copies of the show photos, and two free tickets to the show for family or friends (don’t worry – you can buy more if you have a large number of fans).
We provide the costumes, make-up, props and set, making the show look at brilliant as possible. Our young cast rehearse, perform, have fun, make friends and create memories that will last for years!
We will have two casts, and where the children start each day will depend on which cast they are in:
- Monday: Akela cast start at Trinity; Baloo cast start at St Barnabas Primary School
- Tuesday: Baloo cast start at Trinity; Akela cast start at St Barnabas Primary School
- Wednesday: Akela cast start at Trinity; Baloo cast start at St Barnabas Primary School
- Thursday: Baloo cast start at Trinity; Akela cast start at St Barnabas Primary School
- Friday: everyone at Trinity!
Younger children (those going into School Years 1-3 from September) rehearse from 9.30am – 12.30pm each day, while older children (School Years 4-6) rehearse from 9.30am – 4pm, joining together at Trinity in the early afternoon.
For School Years 1-3, it costs £100 to take part in the week (that’s only £20 per half-day of rehearsals!)
For School Years 4-6, it costs £140 to take part in the week (or £28 per full-day of rehearsals!)
We know times are currently financial tough for some families, and don’t want anybody who wants to come to be put off by the price. We have bursaries available for those who need support. Please contact Jason for details of The Elliott Fund.
What’s the Schedule?
- Rehearsals: Monday 25 July – Friday 29 July (see above for age-specific times)
- Performances: Friday 29 July
What’s The Jungle Book About?
Banished by the ferocious tiger, Shere Khan, a human boy named Mowgli and his panther friend, Bagheera, are on the run in the deepest parts of the jungle. On their journey, the two meet a sinister snake named Kaa, a herd of elephants and a giant bear named Baloo, who teaches them the swingin’ musical rhythms of the jungle.
After surviving a dangerous encounter with a band of monkeys led by King Louie, Mowgli and Bagheera are forced to run for their lives. When Shere Khan returns, our heroes must rally their fellow animals into battle and restore peace throughout the jungle.
“I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you to everyone involved with the production of Winnie the Pooh last week. My daughter had an absolutely fabulous time and enjoyed every minute. The performance was wonderful! The programmes, photography, costumes, sound and stage management were so professional. The whole production was such a great experience for the children and so enjoyable to watch.“
