Show in a Week: Into The Woods Jr cast members
Be part of our Into The Woods Jr cast!
Rehearsed and performed in one week:
Monday 7 – Saturday 12 August 2023
What is a Show in a Week?
We stage a musical in one week during the Summer Holidays, with children aged 8-14 taking all of the roles! This year, we are performing Stephen Sondheim’s Into The Woods Jr!
Over the week, we will learn the show and rehearse it ready to perform for an audience at the end of the week on the Trinity stage.
Everyone who signs up gets cast in the show, with low-pressure auditions determining who takes on what role.
All cast members get a show t-shirt and digital copies of the show photos.
We provide the costumes, make-up, props and set, making the show look at brilliant as possible. Our young cast rehearse, perform, have fun, make friends and create memories that will last for years!
It costs £210 to take part in the week (that’s only £42 for each six-hour day of rehearsals!)
We know times are currently financial tough for some families, and don’t want anybody who wants to come to be put off by the price. We have bursaries available via The Elliott Fund for those who need financial support.
What’s the Schedule?
- Audition workshop: Sunday 4 June (don’t worry if you can’t make this date – a video option will be available)
- Rehearsals: Monday 7 August – Friday 11 August, 10am – 4pm
- Performances: Saturday 12 August
What’s Into The Woods About?
Be careful what you wish for as Stephen Sondheim’s and James Lapine’s cockeyed fairytale comes to life in this adaptation of their groundbreaking, Tony Award-winning musical. Into the Woods JR. features all of your favorite characters – Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack (and his beanstalk) and the Witch in this lyrically rich retelling of classic Brothers Grimm fables.
The musical centers on a baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King’s festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a witch’s curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse and wind up changed forever.
“They all did so well, my child loved it and he has already asked to book for next year!
Thank you everyone for making it so fun for them all!”
