Show in a Week: Seussical Jr
Join us for our exciting Show in a Week for ages 8-13!
Please note: due to the Coronavirus quarantine, auditions for this show have been delayed. We are still hopeful that the Show Will Go On, but it needs to happen safely. We will make a decision in early July about whether to postpone the production or not. We will contact everyone who has booked then.
Horton the Elephant, the Cat in the Hat and all of your favourite Dr. Seuss characters spring to life onstage in Seussical Jr, a fantastical musical extravaganza from Tony-winners, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty.
Transporting audiences from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus, the Cat in the Hat narrates the story of Horton the Elephant, who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos. Horton must protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, and he must also guard an abandoned egg that’s been left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant!
Our Shows in a Week are a fantastic opportunity for children aged 8-13 – to rehearse, perform, have fun, make friends and create memories that will last for years.
You need to sign up and pay in advance, and everyone who signs up will be cast – auditions held in the May/June half term are a fun, low pressure way to determine who gets what part. Video auditions are available to those unable to make the audition dates and for those who don’t want to audition, they will join our fun ensemble cast.
To audition, participants will need to sing a song from a similar popular show – selected by us and sent out in advance – and learn a few lines for different characters from the show.
Auditions: To be confirmed, in the May/June half term (can’t make it? Don’t worry – you can video audition!)
Rehearsals: Monday 27 July – Friday 31 July, 9.30am – 3.30pm (please note – these times vary from previous years)
Performances: Saturday 1 August
Price includes two tickets to the final performances and a show t-shirt.
No child should be unable to take part because of financial constraints. Bursaries from The Elliott Foundation are available for those on low incomes. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Open to everyone aged 8-13 as of 31 August 2020. No experience necessary.
Please note: there are no Youth Theatre discounts available for our Shows in a Week.
