Six Teen Edition cast members
For ages 12-19 (as of 31 August 2023)
Divorced, beheaded, died, divorced, beheaded, survived. From Tudor Queens to Pop Princesses, the SIX wives of Henry VIII take the mic to remix five hundred years of historical heartbreak into an exuberant celebration of 21st-century girl power! This new original musical is the global sensation that everyone is losing their head over.
This is a full-length adaptation for teen actors.
Auditions: Sunday 15 October. Timeslots will be sent out to those who complete the rehearsal availability form.
Auditions will involve a dance routine learnt on the day; a song of your own choice (one minute to 90 seconds in length); and a song from the show sent out in advance.
Rehearsals will be held on Sundays from late October / early November through to the end of the year, followed by Sundays and Wednesdays in January and February 2024.
Performances will be 16 – 18 February 2024 at The Thompson Theatre, The Skinners’ School (due to licensing restrictions with this title, we are unable to perform it at Trinity Theatre).
We expect this to be popular and casting will be by audition. We will be having two sets of Queens, who will perform at different shows, and an ensemble. No experience is required, and you don’t need to have done anything with us before!
It costs £270 to take part which includes rehearsals, a show hoodie/jacket, professional headshots and production photos, and a show poster. This is payable in whole or in three instalments by January 2024.
We are keen that price is not a barrier and we encourage those who may need it to apply for a bursary via The Elliott Fund.
Applications are open as of Saturday 30 September.
To sign up for auditions, please fill out the form.
The Queens
CATHERINE OF ARAGON – A real badass monarch. Commanding, sure of herself, bold. She lights up the room. (Range: Ab3-Eb5)
ANNE BOLEYN – Fun-loving, always up for a laugh. Never takes anything too seriously, but at the same time lives for the drama. Some have described her as a “chaos goblin.” (Range: C4-E5)
JANE SEYMOUR – Kind and sincere. Loves a dad joke, but no one is ever impressed with Jane’s attempts at comedy. (Range: A3-D5)
ANNA OF CLEVES – Savvy, loves her life, won history and no one even knows it. Cleves is here for a good time. (Range: G3-B4)
KATHERINE HOWARD – Super smart with a wicked sense of humor. Remembered as “the promiscuous one” – but she is SO much more than that. (Range: A3-F#5)
CATHERINE PARR – Grounded, thoughtful and warm. Loves the other queens. A champion of female empowerment. (Range: A3-E5)
Our ensemble will include backup singers and dancers of all gender identities.
At its heart, SIX is about celebrating the talent and individuality of the women and non-binary people onstage. The Queens should therefore be played by cis women, trans women, trans people and people who exist beyond the gender binary in any capacity, who feel on a personal level that this is their story to tell.
