Full Description

Coming to Trinity Theatre this December – The Wind in the Willows!

Our Christmas Show takes you on a musical journey; swap magic carpet rides and poisoned pantomime apples for this heartwarming story of friendship as you venture through the Wild Woods with Toad and his band of rambunctious friends, in fantastical style.

Our own Tunbridge Wells Ratty, Badger and Mole join the exuberant Toad and embark on a series of adventures and misadventures caused by his insatiable need for speed! Imprisoned for theft and with his existence under threat from the inhabitants of the Wild Wood, Toad must attempt a daring escape to defend Toad Hall. Featuring spectacular stagecraft and a company of professional actors as well as an ensemble of young local performers and a live orchestra this is set to be Trinity’s wildest adventure!

Brought to you by the same team the produced last year’s five-star production of The Wizard of Oz, this sparkling new musical by Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes features amazing designs, exuberant choreography and a gloriously British score by Olivier-Award-winning composer and lyricist George Stiles and Anthony Drewe.

The Wind in the Willows brings an explosion of anarchy, humour and heart to Trinity Theatre this Christmas! Performances from 13th December 2018 – 2nd January 2018

The Wind in the Willows Review: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

“Kenneth Grahame’s 1908 novel of riverside life is an enduringly and endearingly popular story, and it old-fashioned charms are both honoured but also updated in contemporary ways, as we follow the anarchic Toad of Toad Hall and the attempts of his devoted friends to reign in his serial excesses. It’s a story above all of friendship — and adventures.

And Stiles and Drewe set it all to a buoyant score, which draws on an eclectic range of influences from English choral music to more pop sounds. This may be their most fully-realised work yet in a writing partnership that has stretched back across more than 30 years.” London Theatre 2017
