Variations / The School Film double bill
A youth theatre double bill of one act plays!
Variations by Katie Hims (part of National Theatre Connections 2019), performed by Trinity Youth Theatre
Everyone has days when they wish their life was completely different – Alice is no exception…well, except that her wish comes true as one morning, she wakes up to find everything is not quite as it should be. Tangled in the knots of time and space, all Alice wants is to wake up in her own bed, have a chocolate croissant and head to school. Is that really so much to ask?
A play about family, string theory and breakfast.
The School Film by Patrick Marber, performed by the Oast Youth Theatre
"What are great expectations?"
"It means he's going to be rich. And a gentleman"
The whole school assemble in the hall to watch 'the school film' which turns out to be an old British classic from the 1940s, in black and white no less. As the young viewers absorb the adventures of the characters in the old story they begin to discover what their own expectations might be.
