Volunteer

Our volunteers are simply incredible.

Volunteering is a great opportunity to make friends, gain new skills and become part of a thriving community. Trinity was founded by volunteers and continues to run on the enthusiasm and generosity of a large volunteer base. Across the theatre, we have over 100 volunteers who give a staggering 30,000 hours to Trinity every year.

There are a wide variety of roles to suit every age and interest and we would love to hear from you if you would like to get involved.  From office-based roles, cinema technician, plumbing to gardening we have a place for you!

Please note that for Admin roles we can only accept volunteers aged 16 and over and Front of House, Box Office and Technical roles we can only accept volunteers aged 18 and over.

What’s involved?

Box Office – Our Box Office volunteers are the ‘face of Trinity’. This is great for those who are good with computers, have a cool head and a happy persona. Responsibilities include selling tickets and speaking to customers, looking after telephone and audience enquiries, printing and handing out tickets on the night.

Usher – Our Ushers make sure that performances at Trinity run smoothly, whilst looking after our audience members. Ushers get to enjoy performances whilst on duty. The role includes checking tickets, selling merchandise and ice creams, assisting the Duty Manager and looking after audiences inside the auditorium.

Duty Manager – Duty Managers are senior Front of House volunteers and one of the lead team members during shows. You must be friendly, confident and calm in a crisis! Duty managing is a role for those who really want to get stuck in to the action of live theatre and includes making sure the shows run smoothly, meeting and greetings acts or performers, managing programme and merchandise sales, managing Ushers and working with the technicians and bar staff to solve any problems.

Gardening – Our beautiful and historic garden offers tranquillity in the heart of Tunbridge Wells, if you have green fingers and are keen to get stuck in, our gardening club meets every other Thursday morning.

I started volunteering at Trinity two years ago as a tech and it has been an awesome two years, I started showing films and have since had the opportunity to work backstage and more recently learned the technical aspects of sound and lighting. People are so passionate about what they do and made me feel so very welcome. You can’t help but get sucked in by the amazing atmosphere, you really do feel appreciated. I can safely say choosing to volunteer at Trinity has been one of the best decisions I have ever made!
