On 27th January, and after quite some hiatus, NT Live returns! Filmed live on stage in London’s West End, ‘Tom Stoppard’s masterpiece is magnificent’ (Independent) and should not be missed. Leopoldstadt is n epic family drama telling the story of an Austrian-Jewish families experience over 50 years from the turn of the century to World War II. Regarded as ‘Britain’s greatest living playwright’ (Times), Tony and Academy Award-winner Tom Stoppard’s critically acclaimed new play Leopoldstadt is a passionate drama of love, family and endurance.

MUSIC

The Breathing Room Presents…This spring, we launch a new series of sublime Sunday evening concerts with some of the country’s finest singer-songwriters. Our calm-inducing sessions are curated to ease even the busiest of minds. A space to relax, listen and breathe.

The world is a hectic place; even at the weekends, it can be hard to find space to breathe and unwind…until now. With a host of homegrown talent to draw from, including Seth Lakeman, our sessions are the best way to ease into 2022.

Sunday 9th January sees the inaugural The Breathing Room Presents, with Edwina Hayes – ‘The Sweetest Voice in England’. Edwina’s poetically written songs, charming stage presence, and angelic voice have won her a reputation as a true natural talent, a star of gentle folk-Americana. Celebrated as a concert opener for headliner’s Jools Holland and Van Morrison, as well as playing stages from Glastonbury Festival to The Royal Albert Hall; her Tunbridge Wells debut must not be missed.

January continues to pack a musical punch with the return of Down for the Count. This mini big band brings the Swing Era’s sounds back to life, with an electrifying show full of incredible energy and musicianship. They are described as “a breath of fresh air on the swing scene” regularly found at jazz clubs in the UK and abroad (Ronnie Scott’s London, Le Caveau de la Huchette Paris) at festivals including London Jazz Festival, and on BBC Radio.

Down for the Count’s new show for 2022 celebrates the Legends of Swing – The band recreates classic tunes from the Swing Era, but this is no mere nostalgia trip – the band perform each song in their own unmistakable style, breathing new life into the best vintage music. Combine that with the band’s top-class instrumental solos, sublime vocal performances, and irresistible humour and joie de vivre, and you get a show that will leave you feeling uplifted and wanting more.

Wrapping up the first month of the year we invite you to make a date with Tenors Un Limited, the ‘Rat Pack of Opera’ as the number 1 selling classical vocal trio thrill once again return to Trinity on Friday 28th with their uplifting show ‘That’s Amoré’.

Let Scott, Paul and Jem take you on a journey through some of the best-loved songs of the last century, made famous by other ‘icons of song’, such as Pavarotti, Lanza, Sting, Bublé and Freddie Mercury. These range from popular classics mixed with crooner and pop favourites.

The group has performed alongside such notables as Sting, Lionel Richie, Beyoncé, Hayley Westenra, Simply Red and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, to name a few. For over 15 years, the group has been entertaining audiences worldwide using talents honed in their previous solo careers in opera and theatre.

All your troubles will melt away as these three greatest of showmen present a diverse programme with their trademark soaring vocals, velvet harmonies and killer sense of humour. ‘Bravi!’ – Sting
