Workshops:
Focusing on the Natural World – Thu 19 Sep 1pm – 3pm
Attendees are encouraged to visit Tunbridge Wells common, or their own local green space, prior to the workshop to collect branches and twigs. There will also be some provided for those who are unable to do so.
During the workshop, we will consider the shapes of individual branches and twigs and will draw the space between them using chalk and charcoal. The twigs will then be used themselves to make marks on the drawings to define the branches in ink. Finally, there will be the opportunity to use the leaves to print on leaf shapes to your final works.
Attendees will be encouraged to look at the environment as inspiration for their works, through poetry and ideas, and to think about the concept of treeness in art making.
Materials will be provided – attendees will be contacted with more information. These are covered in the cost of the workshop, along with hire of the space and facilities requried. This workshop is suitable for both adults and children of all abilities.

Wasteland: Visionary Landscapes – Art Workshop – Fri 20 Sep 10.30am – 1pm
In this workshop we will create visionary landscapes that combine drawing and painting from both observation and imagination. These visions will draw their inspiration from legends of the Wasteland and its restoration; from literature (Arthurian Legends to T. S. Eliot) and from the history of art (the Sienese School to Mexican painters such as Rufino Tamayo). Through this lens we will consider the impact of climate change on both our physical and cultural landscape. Some materials will be provided – attendees will be contacted with more information. These are covered in the cost of the workshop, along with hire of the space and facilities requried. This workshop is suitable for both adults and children of all abilities.
