Possibly one of the most important events in the festival this year will be led by award-winning Simon James Green, alongside anti-bullying campaigner Charlie Kristensen who will take us on a roller-coaster tour of growing up, school days, and working out what it means to be your authentic self. From the awkward humiliations that make us all human, to the devastating effects of bullying, this life-affirming event will celebrate the power of books and stories and encourage us all to help make the world a kinder, happier, more accepting place.

Simon James Green said:

“As the author of twelve books for children and young adults which all have acceptance of ourselves, and acceptance of others, at their heart, I’m thrilled to be a part of what promises to be an inspiring, fun-packed, but also important event. Books and stories help us understand ourselves and other people, and the world becomes a happier, easier place to live when we see that difference isn’t anything to be afraid of, and there’s space for us all in this beautiful world.”

 

Charlie Kristensen said:

“I have always been able to use books and stories as a way of escapism and loosing myself in another world for a few hours. I am delighted to be appearing at this year’s Tunbridge Wells Literary Festival and I am very excited to have the chance to take to the stage with Simon James Green. I look forward to seeing you all there on Thursday 9th May!”
