Tunbridge Wells Literary Festival: That's My Story! With Adam Power-Annand from Speech Bubbles
Full Description
Adam Power-Annand will be reading from an extract from his new book ‘That’s my story! Drama for communication, confidence and creativity in KS1 and beyond’. The book captures the theories and practice behind the Speech Bubbles school project, it includes many wonderful children’s stories and games and activities that can be used to bring them to life.
Speech and Language UK report that 1.9 million children in the UK are struggling in school with communication. The numbers are staggering, the good news is there are fun and creative ways we can support those children to develop communication and confidence.
Adam will be joined in conversation by:
Dr Jonathan Barnes, creative education specialist who has produced several research papers examining the benefits for children and school staff in being involved in the Speech Bubbles drama practice.
Cherry Tewfik, Kent based ceramicist who has contributed a case study to the book about how working with clay can support Children’s communication development.
Jason Lower, Trinity Theatre’s Director of Creative Engagement, who has been championing the Speech Bubbles project in Kent since 2017.
