Meet Fiona Young, who will be playing the part of a 1940’s narrator

Tell us about The Hound of the Baskervilles and the part of a Narrator you play?

This adaptation is an ensemble piece, so, instead of just Holmes and Watson, there are four Watsons, a Narrator and Holmes together with several other characters. This drives the pace of the play and adds humour as Holmes interacts with four individuals, who all represent one person. However, the dark, mysterious undertones of the sinister hound that haunts the moors are ever present.

As Narrator I have been able to sit and watch the play taking shape as the actors develop their roles, it’s been a great experience. The Narrator opens the play, opening the book, The Hound of the Baskervilles, and invites the audience to share the story, which is then acted on stage in front of them. Be prepared for an evening of intrigue and suspense.

What are you looking forward to most?

After over twelve months reading plays and rehearsing via Zoom, just being in a room and rehearsing has been so exciting. I think what I’m most looking forward to is simply being part of a live performance in front of an audience.

Running from the 19th – 23rd October, you can join Sherlock’s trusty companion Dr Watson on the terrifying and gripping journey from 22B Baker Street to the eerie Baskerville Hall. The game’s afoot: Trinity Theatre Club: The Hound of the Baskervilles!
